About
The Notre Dame Band is an integral part of campus life. Each year over 500 undergraduate and graduate student musicians from Notre Dame, Saint Mary's, and Holy Cross participate in the 3 concert bands, 3 jazz bands, section ensembles, varsity (pep) bands, and most notably the Band of the Fighting Irish, the University's marching band. Over the course of a school year these ensembles will perform numersous concerts, provide music for various sporting events, and play the greatest of all university fight songs, the Notre Dame Victory March, as our Irish teams compete each season.
The Band is proud to have some of the finest facilities in the country, and to have performed across the United States and throughout the world throughout its 180 year history. Highlights include various bowl games such as the Fiesta Bowl, Sugar Bowl, Gator Bowl, and National Championship, away games at schools such as Michigan, Tennessee, Florida State, and the University of Southern California, and "neutral site home games" in New York City, San Antonio, Washington D.C., Chicago, and Dallas. The concert bands have also toured internationally to countries such as Australia, New Zealand, Austria, the Czech Republic, Scandanavia, Japan, Brazil, and China, performing at world famous venues such as the Sydney Opera House, Carnegie Hall, and the Beijing Concert Hall.
